Creator of Question Connection
Hello! My name is Allison Rook. I am a doctoral student at Rutgers University, Graduate School of Education. This website is an extension of my research on teacher questioning practices in the science classroom and explores what I have learned about questioning along the way.
I have been lucky to work in a variety of educational settings from teaching, to administration, to supporting other teachers as a coach. And the one thing that has always interested me throughout this journey is listening to the talk that happens in a classroom. This talk is at the heart of teaching and learning and it often starts with one question.
Finding the right question at the right time for each student is a challenge that teachers take on everyday. We do it often without even thinking - it is such a part of who we are. Yet this seemingly simple task is deceptively complex in practice.
My goal is to share what I have learned about questioning, connect research and practice through simple tutorials, and create a space where educators can share their own experiences and resources about questioning practices in the classroom.
So please enjoy, and if you have any questions along the way, I am here to chat!
